LSD Addiction

LSD is not considered to be a highly addictive drug and does not cause physical craving symptoms as a result of withdrawal. Although physical symptoms may not occur as a result of addiction, LSD users can experience psychological dependence on the drug do to its powerful mental effects.

In order to treat LSD addiction, users should initially treat any underlying mental health issues that could cause the addiction or dependence. Most LSD users who become addicted are able to stop using the substance on their own.

  • Frank Olson

    • Died of an LSD-related suicide when he jumped out of his hotel room window while under a high dosage of the substance.​

  • Henry Suggitt

    • He was a Canadian teenager who died of a fatal overdose of LSD. When he died he was also under the influence of alcohol, which could have caused even greater effects and increased the danger related to the two substances.​

  • The Beatles

    • The popular music group was known for using the substance and it is claimed that while the band was on tour, all four members were potentially psychologically addicted to LSD​ to a certain extent.
